We all are one race: the human race

General
Many of us think that we are different because we belong to a particular race: Caucasian, Chinese, Indian, Inuit, Latin, Malay, etc. But the reality is that we all are one race: the human race and the real difference among ourselves rest on our cultures. Each culture has a richness made up by its own traditions, beliefs, objects, arts, foods, clothing, etc; a richness that in most cases has grown throughout centuries and even millennia, passing from one generation to another; and all that is giving us our identities. But regardless of our individual cultures, all the human virtues are appreciated by each one of us, without exception. Why? because those are associated with our condition of human being, that is, beyond our race and beyond our culture. I take one example: kindness. Everybody, be a Swiss, a Venezuelan, or a Singaporean, wants to meet kind people every day, either at work or at the restaurant, or at the supermarket or in the streets; the opposite, rudeness, upsets us.
That is the same with other virtues, like respecting others, being honest, being merciful, or being responsible, just to name a few. All the values and virtues that one person possesses form part of his or her identity as well, and these are instilled and fostered not overnight, but throughout our lives, especially during our childhood and adolescence. This is what this book is about: to foster and to promote the human values and virtues, which are indispensable for our growth journey. Also, to warn about the evil; it exists and it will stalk us, with the objective to hinder us from becoming a better person.
